Systems Planning Corporation (SPC), a subsidiary company of GAI Consultants, Inc. is seeking several Outage Coordinators to work at Power Generation facilities supporting work performed during generating unit outages.  

This position is responsible for organizing and overseeing specific work scopes during a planned or forced outage at our client's power plants. Positions are available in either the mechanical or electrical fields and require operational skills including the ability to read mechanical, piping system, and electrical drawings, an understanding of power plant systems and their interrelationships, and application of contractual language and technical specifications. Candidate must possess a working understanding of plant maintenance and be able to read and interpret operational procedures and maintenance work plans and be able to read, interpret, and update an integrated,logic-driven outage schedule.

GAI currently has positions available in the following disciplines: Turbine / Generator, Instrumentation and Controls, Wastewater,Steam Piping, Ductwork and Expansion Joints, Electrical Support, Mechanical Support.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work on-site at customer's power generation facility. The assignment will be in an industrial setting and require wearing personal protective equipment such as a hard hat, safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, etc.
  • Acton the owner's behalf as the first point of contact for the contractors performing the work.  This will include assessing conditions and notifying the client of project conflicts, monitoring work performance, and signing contractor timesheets.
  • Oversee a contractor's work to assure the work is being executed in a safe manner and in accordance with the plant procedures and contract specifications.
  • Communicate technical information, concepts, and ideas verbally and in writing.
  • Understand, follow, and update the integrated outage schedule for the assigned work scopes.
  • Meet with the outage management team to assure the outage goals, daily objectives,and upcoming challenges are being met.
  • Manage shift communications and turnover meetings to include daily meetings with key constituents to set expectations and deliverable.
  • Maintain the outage log and issue board.
  • Perform field observations of personnel to reinforce standards and expectations and identify gaps in performance. Work with client management to identify and address performance deficiencies. Recommend and implement actions to improve gaps to operational excellence.
  • Prepare and issue a daily turnover report including: safety/environmental incidents;events that affected the schedule; progress on the critical path job; progression the next critical path job; list of the major work activities completed on the shift; and major work activities to be completed on the next shift.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by client management.


  • Minimum High School Graduate.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience working at a Power Generation Facility required.
  • Prior experience working with construction labor required.
  • Project Management experience required.
  • Ability to understand, read, and update CPM schedules.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Good organization skills.
