Special Project Technician

SPC is currently looking for a Special Project Technician for an Environmental Inspection support in Wisconsin.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Coordinating and leading field efforts for wetland and stream delineations, endangered species surveys and monitoring, construction inspection and erosion control monitoring, preparing permit applications, and preparing associated environmental reports. 
  • Supervise technical work, schedule, and budget of relevant project tasks and project technical teams.
    Assisting with proposal preparation and cost estimating, quality control reviews, and coordination with clients and regulatory agencies.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Bachelor's degree in Natural Resource Ecology, Engineering, Biology, or Environmental Science; advanced degree a plus.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience commensurate with environmental consulting practices with a background in environmental science, ecology, or construction inspection services.
  • echnical knowledge of natural resources and field assessment methods.
    Knowledge and experience with erosion and sedimentation control monitoring and construction inspections on linear projects is preferred.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.Experience with environmental permitting and regulatory agencies in Wisconsin and/or neighboring states, related to Section 401 and 404 Clean Water Act Permitting and other similar permits.
  • Advanced technical writing ability.  Strong interpersonal and organizational skills a must.
  • Must be able to travel and work out of the office, including overnight trips. In state travel is a requirement and extended field assignments are likely. There may also be up to 25% out of state travel associated with this position on a project specific basis or to assist other offices.
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge and use of GPS tools
  • A current Driver's License is required.
