Turbine-Generator Lead Service Specialist

Systems Planning Corporation (SPC), a subsidiary company of GAI Consultants, Inc. is seeking a Turbine-Generator Lead Service Technician to work at Power Generation facilities. This position could be worked out of multiple field offices in the North East.
This position is responsible for organizing and overseeing specific work scopes during a planned or forced outage at our client's power plants. This position will be responsible for identifying and resolving problems regarding steam turbine-generator rotating equipment. Positions require operational skills including the ability to read mechanical, piping system, electrical and manufacturer equipment drawings and manuals. An understanding of power plant systems and their interrelationships, and application of contractual language and technical specifications. Candidate must possess a working understanding of plant maintenance and be able to read and interpret operational procedures and maintenance work plans and be able to read, interpret, and update an integrated, logic-driven outage schedule.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Work on-site at customer's power generation facility. The assignment will be in an industrial setting and require wearing personal protective equipment such as a hard hat, safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, etc.
Act on the owner's behalf as the first point of contact for the contractors performing the work on turbine generator equipment. This will include assessing equipment conditions and notifying the client of equipment issues, project conflicts, monitoring work performance, and signing contractor timesheets.
Oversee a contractor's work to assure the work is being executed in a safe manner and in accordance with the plant procedures and contract specifications and equipment specifications.
Communicate technical information, concepts, and ideas verbally and in writing.
Understand, follow, and update the integrated outage schedule for the assigned work scopes
Meet with the outage management team to assure the turbine generator outage goals, daily objectives, and upcoming challenges are being met.
Manage shift communications and turnover meetings to include daily meetings with key constituents to set expectations and deliverables
Maintain the outage log and issue board.
Perform field observations of personnel to reinforce standards and expectations and identify gaps in performance. Work with client management to identify and address performance deficiencies. Recommend and implement actions to improve gaps to operational excellence.
Prepare and issue a daily turnover report including safety/environmental incidents; events that affect the schedule; progress on the critical path job; compile a list of the major work activities completed on the shift; and major work activities to be completed on the next shift.
Must have “expert” knowledge of turbine generator theory, operations and maintenance.
Must have knowledge on how to balance multi-bearing machines.
This is primarily an office job.
Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited engineering school is required.
Minimum 15 years' experience working with turbine generator equipment is required.
Prior experience working with construction labor required.
Project Management experience required.
Ability to understand, read, and update Critical Path Method schedules.
Ability to understand, read and interpret Original Equipment Manufacture Manuals, drawings and instructions.
Great organizational and communication skills.
