GAI Consultants is looking for an entry level Civil Engineer to support Transmission Line projects in our Richmond, VA office. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Design transmission lines using PLS-CADD and PLS-POLE. Transmission line projects involve voltages between 12kV and 500kV, and include structure spotting; new line, relocation, and rebuild design; existing line modeling and analysis; NERC and FERC conformance analysis; and failure analysis.

Review existing line and utility drawings.
Review existing structure drawings.  
Develop PLS-POLE and TOWER models.  
Develop PLS-CADD models.
Analyze existing and new structures.
Perform electrical clearance checks and calculations.
Prepare permit drawings and coordinate with FAA.
Attend and participate in project site review meetings.
Coordinate material requisitions and delivery; review manufacturers' calculations and fabrication drawings.
Coordinate environmental permits.
Perform foundation design.
Coordinate with CAD operators to develop organized, high-quality CAD drawings.
 

Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering. Civil Engineering with a structural emphasis or minor preferred. 
Current Engineer in Training certificate (EIT) is preferred.
0-2 years' experience.
Proficient with MS Office software.
Understanding and ability to utilize AutoCAD and Microstation is helpful.
Must be a US Citizen
Must be detail oriented and maintain professionalism at all times. "Client First" approach to all interactions.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong organizational skills a must.
