Summary:
GAI is seeking an individual with 2-5 years' experience in environmental studies and permitting to work out of our Canton, OH office.  The Senior Environmental Specialist's primary work responsibility will be to assist with siting, permitting, and documentation of environmental resources for electric transmission projects.  The individual will assist in the compilation of data and preparation of reports and permitting documents as directed by Task Managers and Project Managers. This position will afford an excellent opportunity for the individual to expand their experience and knowledge base in federal and state environmental and siting regulations and methodologies in Pennsylvania, Ohio, West Virginia and the surrounding region.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist with transmission line siting investigations and prepare siting documentation for regulatory review.
Prepare permit applications and associated environmental reports.
Conduct and coordinate technical investigations to support siting and permitting activities.
Assist with environmental field surveys including but not limited to wetland and stream delineations, endangered species surveys, environmental inspections and compliance monitoring.
Travel may be required as part of this position.
 

Qualifications:
MS or BS in environmental science or related field from accredited university.
2-5 years' experience in siting and environmental studies and permitting.  Experience with state permitting requirements in OH, WV, VA, or PA a plus.
Technical expertise and experience in an environmental or socioeconomic field. 
Experience in wetland delineation, function and value assessment, mitigation design, endangered species surveys, and/or GIS applications a plus. 
Experience conducting ORAM and HHEI/QHEI evaluations a plus.
Strong technical writing ability.
Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
Must be able to travel, including overnight trips.
A valid Driver’s License is required.

Ability to hike moderate distances through unimproved terrain, utility rights-of-way, in remote areas, etc.
Ability to hear and visualize potential hazards during fieldwork or site visit situations.
