Survey Technician

GAI Consultants is looking for Survey Technicians to support pipeline project work in West Virginia. The successful candidates must be able to learn survey technical terminology, perform equipment calibration, perform proper measurements, set up tri-pods and other basic equipment. These are temporary positions which are estimated to last through the end of 2021.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Adhere to safety policies, protocols and procedures.
  • Take work direction from supervision and management.
  • Perform technical surveying tasks including taking measurements, performing equipment calibration, setting up technical equipment, and performing other duties as assigned.
  • Effectively communicate with all staff, verbally and in writing.

  • High School Diploma or GED from an accredited institution is required. 
  • 1-3 years of related work experience in pipeline surveying is preferred.
  • Certified Survey Technician (CST) is preferred.
  • Must be flexible with work hours.
  • Must be willing to travel up to 100% of the time.

Physical Demands and/or Other Job Information (if applicable):
  • Must be able to endure inclement weather (extreme heat, cold, etc.)
  • Must wade thorough water; be able to ride in a boat; and swim.
  • Must be able to be exposed to heights and moderate to difficult terrains. These conditions may require certain motor skills (i.e. climbing, hiking, wading, etc.) while having the ability to safely use hand tools, etc.
  • Must be able to withstand a physically demanding job, carrying between 25 - 50 lbs. routinely.
  • Must be able to walk for lengthy periods of time.
  • Must wear shirt, long pants and boots at all times on job sites.
  • Must have a valid, current drivers license and an acceptable driving record for insurability purposes.
