Survey Crew Chief

GAI Consultants is looking for Survey Crew Chiefs to support pipeline project work in West Virginia. The position entails leading multiple crew members on survey projects. Person is responsible for collecting accurate and precise survey data that is reliable for design and construction activities. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Strong technical skills and supervisory skills required. This individual must take on office responsibilities such as calculations, crew scheduling, overseeing other crews, overall QMS responsibilities, estimates and understands project budgets, leads effective safety talks,
Plan the field activity to meet the needs of the client
Coordinate with office personnel on group assignments
Conduct QMS on survey activity for group including horizontal and vertical measurement accuracy
Advanced understanding of coordinate geometry
Must know survey nomenclature
Thorough understanding of how to download or transfer files from the data collector
Able to operate total stations and data collector; including calibration, and care of delicate and expensive equipment
Intermediate GPS/ survey skills are preferred
High School Diploma or Higher
3-5 years experience in pipeline surveying is required
Certified Survey Technician (CST) or Surveyor in Training (SIT) preferred
Must have valid driver's license and acceptable driving record for insurability purposes
Ability to lead crews
Knowledge of survey equipment
Ability to QA/QC data
Advanced communication skills
Physical Demands and/or Other Job Information (if applicable):
Must be able to endure inclement weather (extreme heat, cold, etc.)
Must wade thorough water; ability to ride in a boat; and swimming skills are preferred.
Must be able to be exposed to heights and moderate to difficult terrains, these conditions may require certain motor skills (i.e. climbing, hiking, wading, etc.) while having the ability to safely use hand tools, etc.
Must be able to withstand a physically demanding job, carrying between 25 - 50 lbs. routinely
Must be able to walk for lengthy periods of time
Must wear shirt, long pants and boots at all times on job sites
Must have a valid drivers license and an acceptable driving record for insurability purposes
