Entry-Level Electrical Engineer

GAI Consultants is currently seeking an entry level Electrical Engineer to work in the Power Delivery Substation Department in our Kansas City office.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Perform detail design of low to extra high voltage substations and switchyards
Develop and/or revise existing drawings for one lines, physical arrangement, electrical schematics, electrical wiring diagrams, grounding, conduit and wire schedules, bill of materials, and site development, battery sizing and equipment layout, including coordinating with CAD operators to develop organized, quality CAD drawings
Integrate physical layout and design of substations to interface with protection and control drawings or vice versa
Develop control and relay panel layouts including assembling the specifications
Create project criteria
Develop design specifications including the overall bill of materials
Design and size auxiliary systems including AC/DC load centers as well as batteries and chargers
Design and size conduit, cable and backup generators
Travel to client and vendor offices for design reviews
Travel to site locations for construction coordination and field verification of designs
Assist with technical development of scope of services and cost estimates for substation and P&C projects
Bachelors (B.S.) degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited program with a strong academic background and coursework in electrical power concepts/AC power systems analysis
A Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.0 is preferred, a minimum of 2.5 is required.
Relevant engineering internship or co-op work experience and a familiarity with substation design is beneficial.
Engineer in Training certificate (EIT) or ability to pass the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam within the first 6 months of employment
Strong command of the English language with good written and oral communication skills to work effectively with internal team members and external client personnel
Detail oriented and able to demonstrate professionalism at all times, with a “Client First” approach to all interactions
Proficient with MS Office applications
Must be a US Citizen.
Physical Demands and/or Other Job Information (if applicable):
Must be physically able to visit client sites including power substations while wearing full Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
